Sea shell button

flamants roses en parade nuptiale sur une plage

- Like many of us, I love to go to the beach. I love walking bear foot by the water picking sea shell. Reminds me of when I was a kid !  And every year I pile them up in in a box and forget them until next year!

While doing my Spring cleaning, I found the old dusted box on the shelves and I came up with the idea of sea shell buttons. It is quick, easy and fun to do.

Supply:

- Some (small) sea shells, felt and fabric or linen scrap, neoprene glue, some thread and a needle.

ASSEMBLY:

rectangle of felt with square of felt

 - Cut a piece of linen 1'' x 1.57' (2,5 x 4 cm) for a small flat shell with size 13/16'' that will be used to decorate somthing.

 - Cut a piece of felt 9/16'' x 3/8'' (1,5 x 1 cm).

 - Place the felt in the center.

- Sew the piece.

-Adjust the size and the thickness according to the shell. The pad should not jut out the shell. This is the only difficulty you might run into for the ones who don't have an accurate eye.

- Drop some glue in the (clean) shell and on the stitched side of the pad. Wait a few minutes until the glue does not stick to your finger.

- Squeeze the pad on the shell (caution: once in contact there is no way to adjust again the two pieces). At this point I prefer to keep them squeezed for an hour.
